Step 1: Go to ledger.com/start

Open your browser and go to https://www.ledger.com/start. This is the official onboarding page for all Ledger devices, including Ledger Nano S Plus and Ledger Nano X. It provides verified download links and instructions.

Step 2: Download and Install Ledger Live

Click on “Download Ledger Live” for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Ledger Live is the official companion app used to manage your crypto assets, install apps, and update firmware securely.

Once downloaded, install the app by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Set Up Your Ledger Device

Plug in your Ledger device using the provided USB cable. Ledger Live will prompt you to select “Set up as new device” or “Restore from recovery phrase”.

• Choose “Set up as new device” if this is your first time.
• Follow the instructions on the device screen to choose a PIN code (4–8 digits).
• You’ll then be shown your 24-word Recovery Phrase—write it down and store it securely. This is the only backup of your wallet.

Important: Never share your recovery phrase with anyone and never store it digitally.

Step 4: Verify and Confirm Setup

Ledger Live will ask you to verify the recovery phrase on your device. This ensures you've written it down correctly. After this, your device is securely initialized.

Step 5: Install Apps and Add Accounts

Now, go to the Manager tab in Ledger Live and install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to use (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).

Once installed, go to Accounts > Add Account, and choose the crypto you want to manage. Ledger Live will sync with your device to generate addresses.

Step 6: Transfer and Manage Assets

You can now receive crypto by selecting an account, clicking “Receive”, and verifying the address on your device. Use “Send” when transferring assets to others, and always confirm the transaction on the Ledger device itself.

Ledger Live also allows you to stake certain assets, buy/sell crypto, and check portfolio performance—all with hardware-level security.
